Confectioner Hadji Bekir came to Istanbul from the Kastamonu district and opened a small candy store in Bahçekapı district in 1777. Confectioner Hacı Bekir Efendi, who started to manufacture and sell confectionery personally and later became known as Hacı Bekir after performing his pilgrimage between 1817-1820, has a history that travels through four different centuries and five continents.
